A useful headshot sequence, from baseline to variety
Use expression, pose and framing changes to create more useful options before moving the lights. The planner adapts the sequence to available time and flashes.
- Enter the intended use, minutes, lights, outfits and backgrounds.
- Build the session. Make the first reliable portrait, then follow the low-change sequence.
- Record keeper frames and actual settings; print or save the checklist.
At a final f/8 target, main-alone f/7.2 and fill-alone f/3.6 combine to about f/8 at the same measured face point. These are proposed contribution targets, not a guaranteed ratio between the two sides of the face.
Can I use one flash?
Yes. Expression, angle, crop and a directional-light change all work with one flash. Extra-light steps only appear when your kit supports them.
Does it give exact flash power?
Power needs an actual meter reference. The linked power calculator converts that measurement into a setting.
Can I print a client session plan?
Yes. The print sheet includes coaching prompts, the timed shot sequence, light counts, checks and keeper notes.
