Your next lighting problem.
Let’s work through it.
Ask about flash, camera settings, portraits, troubleshooting or retouching. Upload a portrait or room photo, describe your goal, and add measurements for a more useful lighting plan.
What can you ask the coach?
Lighting & exposure
Plan light placement, balance flash with ambient, or work out a power change from your meter reading.
Build several lighting looks →Camera & troubleshooting
Ask about camera settings, uneven family lighting, inconsistent flash exposure or a background that is too bright.
Retouching guidance
Get step-by-step editing suggestions. Name your app and version, describe the change, and preserve the details you want to keep.
Room & photo advice
Upload a room to plan a setup, a portrait to explore its lighting, or a test frame to discuss what to adjust.
- 1. Describe the goalTell the coach what you see, what you want instead and what is getting in the way. Or choose a starter question below.
- 2. Add useful contextInclude gear, camera settings and actual meter readings when relevant. A photo is optional. Share your saved gear only when you choose.
- 3. Ask, test & follow upSelect Ask the coach, try the suggested next step, then reply with your result or new readings. Reattach a photo when another look is needed.
What does a useful question look like?
Exposure: “My key meters f/4 at 1/16 power, ISO 100 and six feet. I want f/8 at the same distance. What should I change?”
Troubleshooting: “My subject looks good but the backdrop is too bright. I have one AD200 and a gridded softbox. What should I test?”
Retouching: “I use Photoshop [version]. How can I even the skin tones in this portrait while keeping texture?”
Room planning: “How can I make a dramatic portrait in this room with one light? My space is [dimensions] and I have [gear].”
The coach provides explanations and proposed setups. It cannot directly edit your file, recover exact settings from pixels or turn a gear model into a measured light level. Check important exposure decisions with your camera and meter.
What do you want to change?
Tell me what you see, what you want instead, and the settings or readings you have. We’ll identify the next useful adjustment.
Example: “My subject is good, but the backdrop is too bright. I use one AD200 through a softbox. What should I measure?”
