A connected path from reference to test frame
Start with a reference photo or a practical portrait goal. This guide connects the appropriate tools and keeps your observations together so you can make one deliberate change at a time.
- Choose your goal, equipment and background relationship.
- Save a result from the recommended tool, return here and record the actual test.
- Check final meter readings and the photograph, then keep a field card.
For a three-stop face-to-chest difference, face f/5.6 means a chest target of f/2. If the chest currently meters f/4, it needs two stops less illumination while the face stays fixed. Shared light and spill must be controlled and rechecked.
Does a saved result mean the setup works?
No. It preserves the prediction. Check the actual meter readings and camera frame yourself.
Can I use a reference photo?
Yes. Save the complete reference study and choose Take this plan on set to continue through the measured workflow.
